We're in the swing of newly-engaged season, so over the next few months we'll be sharing Real Proposals from Portland couples here on le blog. (Got a ring recently? Send us your story! )
First up, meet local duo Sari Gardner & Skyler Ashbaugh. Skyler popped the question at Cathedral Park on November 1, 2014. Below, Sari tells their tale:
Skyler and I have been dating for two years. On November 1, he blindfolded me and drove me to Cathedral Park, under the St. Johns Bridge. I truly didn't think anything of the surprise because we'd been doing these "one date-day a month" surprise dates, and November was his month. I got out of the car and he walked me down to the flat area below the stairs. It was there he took off my blindfold, grabbed both of my hands, and dropped to one knee uttering the most perfect proposal. Meanwhile, he had asked my sister and her best friend, Kari, to hide up at the top of the stairs to capture the moment...
This photo is real time. Miraculously there were no joggers, dog walkers, or ANYONE in the area during the actual proposal. It was like they paused, and then came out of the woodwork the second I said "YES!" We're so blessed and beyond excited that this special and beautiful moment was captured.
Sari and Skyler are getting hitched at Grossen Peach Farm (an orchard in Helvatia, Oregon) on September 6, 2015. Congrats you two! Thanks for your sharing proposal story with us!
