An Easter proposal—an egg hunt that yielded something a bit more exciting than jelly beans—led to a wedding inspired by an annual wine-tasting trip around Thanksgiving. Though he calls the Bay Area home these days, Braden grew up just outside of Portland, and the two knew they wanted to pick a wedding destination that would be fun for all of their guests. After touring Sokol Blosser’s new tasting room and event space, the decision was made: “The winery is so modern against the backdrop of rolling hills and vineyards,” says Dena, “it encompassed something uniquely Oregon and beautiful.”

Planning from afar—and juggling two demanding jobs—the couple relied on Meghan Wicks at Bridal Bliss to help them sort out the details. “She is detailed oriented,” Dena says, “which helped us both trust that we were in good hands.” She also encouraged them to make some smart swaps to create a day that was truly a reflection of their personalities—doughnuts from a small shop in Lake Oswego stood in for a traditional tiered cake, and a Champagne-and-rosé hour (because, why not?) instead of the more typical cocktail hour kept guests hydrated before their family-style supper. And when it came time to hit the dance floor, the DJ was armed with a playlist only growing up in the ‘90s could deliver. The only hiccup? When a guest tripped the plug and stopped the music mid-dance party. A quick fix, though, and the newlyweds’ playlist kicked back on and they danced into the night.
